A red handwoven Kanchi cotton saree with a plain body and a double side zari border finished in black temple kumbam and a bottle green outer band, carrying mankolam paisleys and floral roundels, with a pallu of gold zari lines and a running blouse in the same red. Woven in 100% pure cotton with a Kanchipuram-style border in zari, it is light and breathable, suits all body types and is right for office days, temple visits, poojas and festive daytime wear. It comes with an unstitched running blouse piece; dry clean the first wash, then hand wash gently in cold water.

Handwoven in 100% pure cotton — light enough for a full working day, finished enough for a temple morning or a festive lunch. The matching blouse comes with it. Dry clean the first wash, then a gentle cold hand wash.

Temple kumbam — the row of small pointed shapes where the border meets the body, named after the kumbam that sits on a temple gopuram. It is one of the oldest border finishes in South Indian weaving, and it is woven in, not added on. Here the points are black, set against the red body.

Mankolam — the Tamil word for the mango or paisley motif, one of the most enduring shapes in South Indian weaving. Here the paisleys run the length of the border in zari, alternating with floral roundels, between the black temple points and the green outer band.

Plain body — the body of this saree carries no buttas, only the fine gold zari lines that run through the pallu. A plain body is the easiest kind of cotton saree to repeat through a working week, and it lets a border this detailed do all the work.

Running blouse — the blouse piece is woven as part of the saree, in the same red as the body and carrying the same zari border. It is unstitched, so it can be tailored to your measurements.
